Steps before initiate your domain transfer.

Before initiate your domain transfer you have to make sure:

- Your domain is active and not expired.

- You have the correct transfer code (EPP). This is provided by your current domain registration company.

- Your domain is not "locked" and the contact information is accurate and available in the Whois database.

You can do a Whois database search to see your domain information.

- Your have disabled any whois protection system like ID or privacy protection which hides your real domain whois information. If you have such a service enabled the registry will be unable to send you the approval emails to your real email address.

Simply fill out your domain and click the "lookup" button in the link below:

http://whois.domaintools.com/

From the Whois search result:

- Make sure the Administrative contact is correct, especially the email address as the registrar will send you an approval email to that listed address.

- Make sure you have "Domain status: ok" in the domain information. If you see "Domain status: locked" or "Status: Locked" you have to unlock the domain or ask your current domain registration company to unlock it. Locked domains can't be transferred.

Once you are sure you meet all the requirements above you can initiate your domain name registration transfer filling out your domain and the transfer code (when apply) in our domain transfer form and complete the payment process.

Steps after you have initiated the domain transfer

Once you have initiated the domain transfer process, both registrars, the current registrar and the new one, will send you an approval email message to the listed Administrative email address in the domain with instructions to approve the domain transfer. You have to follow the instructions to approve the transfer.

Once you complete those steps and approve the transfer, the registry check the submitted information and if everything is ok will complete the transfer.

Tips: Check the email message sent by the registrar, there is a link to expedite the transfer process. If you use that link you will accelerate the transfer process.

Reasons that make the transfer fail

- You haven't filled out the correct transfer code. Note some transfer codes have special characters (/&%,.:") on it, make sure to copy/paste the complete code, those special characters are part of the code.

- You haven't responded to the approval email or you haven't received the email because the Administrative contact email address is not correct in the domain. You will need to update the information and contact us to re-initiate the transfer process.

- The domain is "locked" so cant be transferred. You will have to unlock it and contact us to re-initiate the transfer process.

- You have a whois privacy protection enabled and the registry is not able to send you the approval emails.

- The domain has expired. Expired domains can't be transferred between registrars. You will have to renew the domain with your current domain registration company and then initiate the transfer process.
